Mounties in a northern Vancouver Island town say the action of nearby witnesses helped a female victim of domestic violence and led to the capture of a male suspect.
Port McNeill RCMP say a female was experiencing domestic violence while she was downtown on July 31. when witnesses noticed what was happening and promptly called 911.
They also say a male suspect was arrested after a good samaritan physically intervened as he tried to flee the scene.
“The Port McNeill RCMP would like to thank the good samaritans who came to the aid of a female experiencing domestic violence today in downtown Port McNeill,” the detachment wrote in a post on social media.
An unidentified male remains in police custody and is facing “multiple” charges, according to the Port McNeill RCMP.
