Environment Canada has issued wind warnings for most of the Island except for Inland Vancouver Island.
The wind warnings are in effect for East Vancouver Island, Greater Victoria, North Vancouver Island, the Southern Gulf Islands and West Vancouver Island.
The warnings advise people in the area to be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows may occur due to the high winds throwing loose objects or causing tree branches to break.
For North and West Vancouver Island, Environment Canada is predicting very strong southeast winds of 80 km per hour gusting 100 becoming southwest or west 80 km per hour gusting to 100 Wednesday morning. Over exposed coastal sections wind gusts may reach 110 km per hour. This is supposed to start tonight and last until Wednesday afternoon.
For East Vancouver Island, Greater Victoria, and the Southern Gulf Islands, Environment Canada is predicting very strong southwesterly winds of 70 km per hour gusting to 90 starting Wednesday morning lasting until the evening.

Inland Vancouver Island is still under a special weather statement, with strong winds predicted.
The statements call for strong, gusty southeasterly winds switching to southwest on Wednesday, as well as 40 to 60 mm of precipitation.
