West Shore RCMP says officers arrested a federal parolee who was wanted on a Canada wide arrest warrant for more than a month.

With the assistance of Vancouver police, West Shore RCMP says it undertook an operation to apprehend 40-year-old Carmen Briault Wednesday.

Briault is known to police for being a three-time federal offender, currently serving a three year and nine-month sentence for robbery.

Police say he was released on parole Dec. 13 with conditions to live at Harbour Light Community Residential Facility in Vancouver but failed to return to the facility Jan. 5.

A Canada wide warrant was issued for Briault’s arrest, and West Shore’s Crime Reduction Unit received information from Vancouver police on his whereabouts.

Briault was located in Langford and was taken back into custody where he remains.
