Environment Canada has issued weather warnings for east and west Vancouver Island.

East Vancouver Island has a wind warning in effect from Courtenay to Campbell River and Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay.

Southeast winds of 70 km per hour gusting to 90 are expected to last into Sunday morning.

Environment Canada says there is a chance for damage to buildings, and high winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

West Vancouver Island is under a rainfall warning.

Up to 100 mm of rain is expected near Zeballos and Tahsis.

The rainfall is expected to last into Monday morning.

A six to eight hour break in the continuous rain is expected on Sunday before the next weather system arrives early Sunday evening with a round of heavy rain.

Environment Canada says heavy downpours can cause flash flooding and water pooling on roads.
