The Capital Regional District (CRD) is advising residents to avoid the water along shorelines in Greater Victoria in a Wastewater Discharge notice Wednesday morning.
The CRD said in a release heavy rain caused a combination of stormwater and wastewater overflows Tuesday night after 21.6 millimetres of rain fell around Victoria.
The affected areas are between Rutland Road in Oak Bay and Seaview Road in Saanich and include Cadboro Bay.
The shoreline between Trafalgar Park and Radcliffe Lane including McNeill Bay in Oak Bay is also affected.

The CRD says affected areas will be posted with public health advisory signs and will remain in place until samples of enterococci levels are below the recreational limit.
According to Health Canada, enterococci can cause urinary tract, wound, and soft tissue infections.
