The busiest airport on Vancouver Island has a new washroom block.

Victoria International Airport has unveiled its newly completed washroom facility, which includes a universal bathroom, family room, adult changing station and a pet relief area.

The upgrades are part of the second phase of an estimated $20-million multi-phase expansion project of the airport’s lower passenger departure lounge, which began in 2018.

Improvements include expanding the departure lounge by 1,765 square metres, new public art, enhanced retail and food options, and new washrooms.

The completion of new washrooms means the overall project moves into its third phase, which will see the expansion of food options within the departure lounge.

Canadian border officers found nearly a million dollars worth of suspected cocaine from a commercial vessel near Victoria.
