The Victoria Police Department is seeking the public’s help, asking for anyone who may have witnessed an act of “mischief and arson” at a restaurant on Tuesday morning.

An investigation has been launched into an incident that occurred at around 5:13 a.m. on Aug.11.

Police say officers responded to a report of a fire at the restaurant in the 3100-block of Douglas Street in Victoria. When authorities arrived on-scene, they were able to extinguish the flames without a major fire spreading.

Based on the evidence at the restaurant, Victoria police determined that the suspect broke a window to the restaurant, lit an object on fire and tossed it inside the building.

The restaurant that had its window broken was a location of the fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken, located at 3140 Douglas St.

From information gathered already, Victoria police say the suspect was last seen travelling northbound on a bicycle following the incident at KFC.

The suspect was also seen wearing dark clothing.

Investigators are asking to speak with witnesses or anyone that might have been in the same area that the incident took place.

For anyone that might have information, VicPD says to call them at (250) 995-7654.

This is a developing story, it will be updated as more information is learned.
