Ah, summer — sizzling sun, bathing suit weather and…pumpkin spiced lattes?
Apparently, fall is here. At least according to Starbucks.
The coffee giant is launching its famous fall drink this week, saying August 27th is the new first day of autumn.
But the reaction is mixed.
“I just think it’s totally absurd, it doesn’t make sense to me,” a Starbucks customer in Victoria told CHEK News.
“No, I’m not willing to give in yet,” added another. “I like summer and I hope it sticks around for at least another month.”
The first day of fall this year is September 23rd — almost four weeks away.
But autumn drinks aren’t the only thing hijacking summer.
Halloween costumes are also out frightfully early at Value Village.
“I love Halloween, I can’t wait for it every year, and I’m so excited,” says Value Village Victoria shopper Erin Spencer. “It is the end of August, so I have been waiting for a couple of weeks now to get going.”
There are 64 days left until trick or treating time but despite having more than two months to pick the perfect costume, staff say business is booming.
“The first day we put it up we weren’t even done the display and we almost had to restock a lot of things,” says Value Village’s Morgan Wright. “It was very, very busy and it’s been non-stop for the last three days.”
But some shoppers aren’t so sure about the seasonal creep.
“I thought it was kind of crazy,” says Value Village shopper Tiffany Adams. “I didn’t expect it when I walked in to look around.”
Halloween candy is also on store shelves.
But so far, retailers are holding off on putting out the Easter chocolates
And in case you’re wondering, there are only 118 days until Christmas.
