WATCH: After heartbreak and a blowout loss on Friday, the UVic Vikes men’s and women’s basketball teams came back on Saturday night with authority.
The women kicked off the evening, and after a lopsided loss to the provincial championship contending Regina Cougars the night prior, the ladies stormed back to go toe-to-toe with the Cougars.
Going back and forth all game, it was the Vikes who got the final laugh, scoring a buzzer-beating layup courtesy of Katie Langdon to give the Vikes a much-needed victory to wrap up the weekend.
On the men’s side, they were coming off a buzzer-beater loss of their own on Friday, and their second contest with the Cougars went down to the wire again. Vikes veteran forward Jordan Charles hit the go-ahead three-pointer late, and with the last possession in the game, the Cougars needed a three-pointer of their own to tie the game, but came up empty, giving the Vikes a big victory to close out the weekend.
Both the men’s and women’s teams are back in action next weekend when they host the Fraser Valley Cascades.
