VIJHL has postponed all games due to newly announced COVID-19 restrictions by the provincial government.

The puck will not be dropping anytime soon, at least for the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League.

VIJHL announced that it has postponed all games due to new COVID-19 restrictions introduced by the provincial government, which limit social gatherings to a person’s immediate household regardless of whether it is indoors or outdoors.

“Due to the new restrictions posted by the B.C. public health officer and the information supplied by BC Hockey, the [VIJHL] has declared that all games will be postponed starting Nov. 21, 2020, while the situation is being evaluated and the league receives instructions to proceed again,” the junior hockey league said in a statement.

The league had previously postponed a handful of games after cases of COVID-19 were confirmed at two schools in Nanaimo, where several players attend.
