Victoria Y
The Victoria Y has been at it's Broughton Street location since 1965.
A big move could be in the works for downtown Victoria and the YMCA.
The Y and a local developer will explore building a new facility at the corner of Blanshard and View streets — currently the Capital 6 Theatres.
The Y will work with Jawl Properties over the next six months to review the viability of the location.
The Y has been at its current spot on Broughton Street since 1965.
No longer meeting the needs of the organization or the community, the property was sold in 2018 and the search began for a new downtown home.
The Victoria Y has 650-thousand visits annually.
