WIN opens new store in West Shore.

Victoria Women in Need (WIN) is opening a new location in the West Shore.

The non-profit, which sells clothes and household items to fund five empowerment programs, is opening its fifth store on Goldstream Avenue in Colwood.

The store will sell second-hand clothing for all genders and ages, shoes, accessories, houseware, toys, furniture and more.

This store is replacing a previous Women in Need West Shore location that closed at the start of the pandemic.

“Returning to the West Shore has been a long-held dream of ours since we closed our location here in 2020,” WIN’s executive director, Clare Yazganoglu, said in a release. “It is so thrilling to be back.”

Nicole Lapierre, WIN’s program coordinator, added the new location aims to increase accessibility to the empowering programs.

“This community is growing, and we are so excited to grow with it to better offer our empowerment programs,” Lapierre said.

WIN’s programs provide women, trans, non-binary and Two Spirit people with practical and empowering support along their own unique journey between crisis, financial self-sufficiency and wellness.

They are designed to be free of judgment, simple to access and informed by the wisdom of program participants themselves.

Each year, WIN supports more than 2,000 local program participants.

The West Shore location will officially open its store at #2-310 Goldstream Ave. on Saturday.

The other store locations are at 785 Pandora Ave., 1803 Cook Street, in the West Village and Saanich Centre.
