When it comes to the “rattiest” cities in B.C., Victoria is right near the top dealing with the creepy critters.

Pest control company Orkin Canada unveiled the province’s top-20 rattiest cities Wednesday, based on the number of residential and commercial treatments of rats and mice in 2017 and Victoria is second behind Vancouver.

The top-10 list also includes Duncan in ninth spot and Nanaimo right behind in 10th.

Sidney comes in at 14th on the list, Port Alberni is ranked 17th and North Saanich is 19th.

Orkin says among the best ways to prevent a rat problem is to seal cracks or holes in your foundation and install weather stripping around windows and doors.

Keep shrubbery at least a metre away from exterior walls of your home to take away any hiding spots for rodents.

Orkin says you should also get rid of moisture sources, such as clogged gutters and water in your trash or recycling bins.
