Sunday will see Victoria’s Pride Parade make its way through downtown Victoria, an event that police say attendees should arrive early for.

With multiple road closures officials suggest coming well before the 11 a.m. start time.

The parade starts at Government Street and Pandora Avenue, with staging taking place up to Government and Princess streets.

The route will then go southbound on Government to Belleville Street, where the parade will then turn westbound.

At Oswego Street, the parade will turn southbound until a westbound turn at Simcoe Street.

The finish point is at MacDonald Park.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. no traffic will be permitted south on Wharf Street from the Johnson Street Bridge – except localized traffic destined for businesses along the street.

Marshalling will start at 7 a.m. on Government Street between Princess Street and Pandora Avenue, followed by full parade road closures starting just before 11:00 a.m.

Police will be allowing traffic to cross the route at Chatham Street intermittently.

With the Bay Street Bridge only open to westbound traffic, several other detours are in place.

Traffic coming over the Johnson Street bridge will be directed north onto Store Street and then eastbound onto Chatham Street, and will be blocked until the last participants depart at around 1:30 p.m.
