No arrests have been made by Victoria police, following a shooting on Bay Street Tuesday.

Police say their investigation in to the incident is still in its early stages.

Just after 12:45 p.m., officers were called to the 1500-block of Bay Street, between Forbes and Victor Streets, for a report of a shooting outside a home.

When officers arrived, one man was taken to hospital.

According to Insp. Grant Hamilton with VicPD, the man was in his early 40s.

Police say the attack appears to not be random, and that they do not believe their is a danger to the public.

The area was closed by police, and residents were told to stay indoors — but was cleared for residents by 3:30 p.m.
