Victoria Police seeking artwork stolen from downtown gallery

The Victoria Police Department is turning to the public for help as it searches for a piece of stolen art that was taken from a downtown gallery.

According to police, the artwork was stolen in June 2021, however, the theft wasn’t discovered until February 2022.

The stolen piece of art was crafted by E.J. Hughes and was taken from an art gallery located in the 600-block of View Street.

The artwork, titled “Sooke Harbour,” is valued at $6,500.

Victoria Police have launched an investigation and the file remains open.
