The Victoria Police Department is searching for witnesses and information after a woman was followed from her workplace by an aggressive man on Friday night.

In a police report issued on Monday, VicPD outlined that officers received a report of a suspicious event on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 12 – the day following the incident.

Officers say that a woman reported to police that at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 11 she left her workplace in the 300-block of Cook Street and noticed a suspicious man in the area.

According to the report, the woman asked a colleague to walk her to a bus stop and the suspicious man started following them, however, after losing track of him, the woman believed that the suspicious man had left the area and began walking alone toward the bus stop.

Police said the man then reappeared and continued to follow the woman, despite her crossing the street several times.

“The woman ran from the area and the man gave chase while he yelled angrily. The woman flagged down a nearby bus and was able to leave the area safely,” reads a statement in the police report.

Police are describing the unknown suspect as between the ages of 35 to 45 years old. He stood approximately five feet, ten inches tall and had a medium build.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black toque, black sweater, black pants and black boots.

Police add that the aggressive man was described as “possibly intoxicated.”

An investigation is ongoing following the report.
