Victoria police searching for scooter stolen from disabled woman

Police said a scooter similar to the one in the picture was stolen from a disabled Victoria woman.

Police in Victoria are looking for a disabled woman’s mobility scooter was stolen from a locked parking area between Wednesday evening and Friday morning.

Police said the scooter was stolen from a residential building in the 900 block of Balmoral Road between the evening of Aug. 9 when the woman locked the scooter up and Friday morning, when the woman discovered the scooter and both locks used to secure it were gone.

The woman was going to use the scooter to get to her doctor’s appointment. Victoria police drove the woman to her appointment on Friday.

Officers are searching the suspect but they are also hoping to get the scooter back to the woman. Police said the woman faces significant mobility challenges and the scooter is her sole means of transportation.

The scooter is described as a red three-wheel Shoprider mobility scooter with a black seat, grey wheels and a blue “Victoria Blue Bash” sticker on the console. Anyone with information is asked to call Victoria police at 250-995-7654 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
