Victoria police say an officer suffered non-life threating injuries in one of two separate incidents involving police members overnight.

Just after 2:30 a.m. Friday morning, police were called to a business in the 1200-block of Douglas Street where a fight involving several people broke out.

As the first officer arrived and tried to intervene, a woman involved in the brawl allegedly attacked the officer, who suffered the injury as a struggle ensued.

The officer was able to take the woman into custody and other police members arrived to help break up the altercation and took several people into custody.

No one else was injured in the incident which is under investigation and charges are being recommended on the woman for assaulting an officer and assault causing bodily harm.

Another incident happened just after 10 p.m. Thursday night where police went to the 800-block of Wharf Street for a report of a person camping on illegal property.

When the female camper was approached by officers, she allegedly attacked both, assaulting one of them.

She has been taken into custody and the officer was not hurt.
