Due to concerns over COVID-19 and social distancing in the community, Victoria Police Department has announced they will be suspending their found bike pick-up service as of Thursday.

In a press release issued by the organization, VicPD was asking for patience as they temporarily halt the complimentary service.

“As part of our efforts to ensure that we are able to maintain operational readiness during the COVID-19 pandemic we are asking for your patience as we temporarily suspend pick-ups of found bikes.”

Despite the service being suspended, Victoria Police are still encouraging the public to report any found bikes online at  https://vicpd.ca/services/report-a-crime-online/.

Police are urging the community to use only the online website to report found bikes and avoid using the non-emergency line. The reason for this being that the front counter lobby areas are closed to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We will receive your online report and pick up the bike as soon as operationally possible,” said the press release.

The found bike service is just one of many changes as a result of the ongoing outbreak of coronavirus throughout Vancouver Island.
