Two men were arrested in relation to a drug trafficking investigation with ties to crime groups on the Lower Mainland, according to Victoria police.

The investigation into the drug trafficking operation by Victoria police’s community services division (CSD) began late last month, and on May 31, officers arrested two Vancouver men at a Saanich hotel in the 3200 block of Maple Street.

VicPD officers, with the assistance of Saanich police, then executed a search warrant on the hotel suite associated with the two men. They found one kilogram of controlled substances, including fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine, Victoria police say.

The two suspects, a 40-year-old and a 35-year-old, also had more than $3,000 in cash that police believe are proceeds of crime.

Both men have been released from custody pending further investigation and officers will be recommending charges related to drug trafficking.

Victoria police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 ext. 1, or the Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
