Police are looking for additional survivors after a Victoria masseur was recently charged with sexual assault.

According to the Victoria Police Department, Ajesh Jacob, a 35-year-old man, was arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault on May 13.

The arrest, police say, stems from an alleged incident that took place earlier in the year at a massage and reflexology business located in the 700-block of Fort Street, where Jacob’s was employed as a masseur at the time.

VicPD says their Special Victims Unit has been investigating Jacob since late March after a survivor came forward with allegations against him and that they are investigating “several” additional allegations of sexualized violence involving him.

As a result, VicPD says they believe there may be additional survivors who have yet to speak with their Special Victims Unit and are encouraging anyone to come forward.

Although Jacob was arrested and charged, VicPD says he has been released on multiple conditions, one of which includes not being allowed to perform massage services on anyone.

Anyone with information about Ajesh Jacob is asked to contact the Victoria Police Department at 250-995-7654 extension or anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.

There are many ways to report sexualized violence in addition to contacting the Victoria Police Department’s non-emergency line. Individuals can report sexualized violence through a family doctor, counsellor or the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre. The Victoria Sexual Assault Centre also supports survivors directly and can assist you if you choose to report a sexual assault to police. Please visit www.vsac.ca for more information.
