As far as New Year resolutions go most will agree, “save more money” is usually one of them.

For Victoria man Michael Kriberg who won a $1-million dollar prize in November, that won’t be too hard.

“I was at a hockey tournament in Nanaimo and I used the BCLC Lotto App on my phone to validate my ticket,” recalled Kriberg. “The first thing that crossed my mind was ‘holy smokes!’”
Kriberg was most excited to share the news with his wife, who he said was “excited and in disbelief.”
“This win will make things more comfortable.”
He plans to use the money to pay off his mortgage, help his family and get some much-needed travelling in.
Kriberg purchased the winning ticket at the Country Grocer at Royal Oak Shopping Centre in Victoria.
Some think buying a lottery ticket is a waste of money, but others might argue —  its only five bucks.
Especially when tonight’s LottoMax jackpot is a whopping $55 Million.
But the odds of wining?
1 in 33,294,800.
Unlikely? More than ever.
But like they say — you can’t win if you don’t play.
