Victoria police are asking for witnesses to come forward after a Victoria City Hall window was shot by what was believed to be an air gun.

Police said officers were called to Victoria’s City Hall at 1 Centennial Square just after 2:45 p.m. Wednesday for a report that a staff member had returned to their desk to discover damage to an office window.

The damage was consistent with a projectile having been fired at the window from outside, according to police.

The staff member was not physically injured in the incident. Evidence at the scene indicates the window was most likely damaged by a compressed-air style air gun, such as a pellet gun, police said.

VicPD also said “specific investigative information, including the identity of the staff member and the specific location of the office, is not being released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.”

Anyone who may have information about the incident is asked to call VicPD’s non-emergency line at (250) 995-7654, and select extension 1 for the report desk.

To report what you know anonymously, call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
