VicPD are searching for an unknown male suspect following an alleged incident where he "threw his body" into a woman who was walking passed him.

Police in Victoria need the public’s help identifying a suspect in an alleged ‘random assault’ that took place in the city’s downtown this morning.

At approximately 11 a.m. on June 13, VicPD officers were called to the 2900-block of Douglas Street after receiving reports that a woman was assaulted by an “unknown” male.

According to VicPD, a 29-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk when the unidentified man “threw his body” into her. Police are calling the assault “random” and “unprovoked.”

The 29-year-old woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries while the suspect remains at large.

The suspect is described as a five-foot-eight Hispanic or South Asian male who is 20 to 30 years of age. He has a medium build and short dark hair. He was wearing a dark jacket, dark shorts, and a grey shirt at the time of the incident, police said.

VicPD have released surveillance footage of the incident and are asking anyone with information to contact them immediately at 911 or (250) 995-7654 and press 1.
