Victoria Police seized drugs, guns and $50,000 in cash following the December 2022 search of a suite in the 800-block of Johnson Street.

More guns and drugs are off Victoria’s streets.

On Dec. 20, 2022, the Victoria Police Department’s Community Services Division obtained a warrant to search a suite in a multi-unit residential temporary housing facility in the 800-block of Johnson Street.

With help from the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, officers entered the suite and found two firearms, two air-soft pistols and over $50,000 in cash, according to VicPD Const. Terri Healy.

Officers also found two kilograms of suspected drugs, including methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine, Healy told CHEK News in an interview.

“It’s definitely one of our bigger files,” she said.

“It’s very concerning for us, specifically the fact that there were firearms retrieved from inside that suite, and also the large amount of cash and drugs that were found. There was one revolver-style handgun that was retrieved, and a rifle-style firearm as well.”

A man and woman were arrested at the scene and later released pending further investigation, according to VicPD in a news release. For both, investigators recommend charges related to firearms and drug trafficking.

Healy says that during the search, officers also recovered various jewelry items. In a Dec. 23 release, VicPD requested the public’s help locating the owners of the jewelry, saying some appeared to be family heirlooms.

VicPD say the file remains under investigation and ask anyone with information to call 250-955-7654 extension 1, or, to remain anonymous, Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
