Community Services Division (CSD) officers with the Victoria Police Department (VicPD) have located the vehicle associated with a man wanted on a nation-wide warrant.

The vehicle is connected with Dallis Briet, who continues to remain at large one day after police sought the public’s help in locating the 44-year-old.

Briet is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant after his parole was revoked and is the subject of an ongoing VicPD Community Update Wanted Alert.

CSD officers are continuing to work to locate him and the public is being asked not to approach Briet if he is spotted.

Dallis Briet is described as a Caucasian man, 6’2″ with a heavy build – weighing approximately 229 pounds.

Dallis Briet has blue eyes – one of which is a glass prosthetic – and short brown hair. Police say his hair is greying at the temples and forms a widow’s peak.

He recently had “a short, scruffy dark brown beard with salt and pepper areas.”

CSD officers reported that they spotted Dallis Briet breaching his conditions yesterday, which included prohibitions from being in or driving a vehicle. According to a VicPD report, officers attempted to arrest him, however, Briet managed to evade them. The officers claim they did not pursue Briet at that time in an effort to reduce the risk to nearby bystanders.

Dallis Briet has past arrests and convictions for a number of offences, including driving-related offences, possession of stolen property, break and enter and breaching conditions.

Police are asking if anyone sees Briet to call 911.

Police have clarified that Briet is not the man who was pulled from the Inner Harbour after a three-hour-long search on Wednesday.
