Victoria Police confirmed Friday the May 6 fire that destroyed the old Victoria Plaza Hotel was an arson.

A fire that destroyed the more-than-century-old Victoria Plaza building was the result of arson.

That was confirmed Friday morning by Victoria Police, adding the building’s caretaker is still unaccounted for.

Police released a newly acquired photo of Draeger, who was not found in the search through debris at the site in the 600-block of Pandora Avenue.

Victoria Police says no further details can be released to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
