Victoria Police say patrol officers were joined by Strike Force officers and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) in order to carry out the arrest, which occurred in the 1900-block of Douglas Street early Friday morning.

According to a report issued by VicPD, the man was wanted on several warrants “out of several Greater Victoria areas of responsibility.”

The warrants include a breach of court-ordered conditions as well as charges related to drug trafficking, possession of stolen property, vehicle theft, and possession of firearms.

Police say that the wanted man surrendered to GVERT officers involved in the execution of the warrant just after 2 a.m. this morning.

VicPD highlights that GVERT officers deployed a device, which resulted in a loud ‘bang’ that could be heard throughout the area in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police add that there were no injuries during the arrest.

The file remains under investigation.
