A famed media and travel brand has named Vancouver Island as one of its annual award winners.
Vancouver Island won the Adventure Destination Award from the Matador Network. Each year, Matador releases its travel award winners featuring various destinations around the world.
This year, five awards were handed out, with Vancouver Island winning alongside the likes of Calistoga California, Scotland and Saudi Arabia.
Matador noted that Vancouver Island stood out for being an all-season destination featuring readily accessible surfing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, backcountry and alpine skiing among many outdoor activities.
The network further detailed that “the Island’s outfitters and guides can take you off the beaten path, or you can choose your own adventure.”
Destinations were nominated by Matador Network team members which were then put on a 10-point scale, with ten categories ranging from seasonality to accessibility.
