The City of Gardens is taking the limelight in an upcoming episode of U.S. TV show “Samantha Brown’s Places to Love.”

The series follows Brown as she travels the world “seeking the little-known spots where innovators and disruptors create a brand new travel experience,” according to the show’s website.

Brown and her production team visited Victoria in summer 2023, and the episode highlighting the city will launch online on the PBS website on Jan. 21, and air on the PBS TV channel on Jan. 26.

While Brown was in the capital, she made stops at iconic locations, including the Inner Harbour, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Chinatown and the Canadian Chinese Museum.

She also broke bread at Finest at Sea Fish and Chips, the Fairmont Empress and 10 Acres, as well as taking a whale and wildlife watching tour with Eagle Wing Tours.

“This is a city where old-world charm meets coastal culture, where sustainability sits at the heart of the community, and where locals work to preserve what makes this city beautiful,” reads the show’s website.

“Join me as I meet with the people and businesses that make Victoria a Place to Love.”

Destination Greater Victoria says Brown’s visit to the capital is part of the organization’s new efforts to increase its sales and marketing initiatives, particularly with an eye towards attracting international visitors or platforms, like the PBS show.
