A Vancouver Island hotel has received some recent accolades, being considered one of the best hotels in the world, according to Travel + Leisure.
Travel + Leisure Magazine has recently released their Top 100 Hotels in the World list for 2021 and cracking the list is Tofino’s very own Wickaninnish Inn.
The Wickaninnish Inn, located at 500 Osprey Lane in Tofino, scored a total of 97.00/100 in Travel + Leisure’s rankings, which places it at 80th on the top list of hotels.
“Standing on a cliff above the churning Pacific Ocean, the Wickaninnish Inn has become a popular spot for weather-watching and adventuring. It even provides Helly Hansen rain gear, rain boots, and binoculars,” reads the description provided by the hotel in the Travel + Leisure rankings.
As far as the ratings go, the travel magazine says that hotels were ranked on their facilities, location, service, food, and overall value.
As part of the ratings as well, Travel + Leisure says they ask readers in their World’s Best Awards survey to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe, including their top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more.
All of these help factor into the final list of hotels curated by Travel + Leisure and, despite the world dealing with a pandemic, the travel magazine says that being grounded for much of 2020 doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate hotels.
“Adventures never cease, even when we remain close to home — and an excellent hotel can still put a smile on your face, especially when the world feels tumultuous,” reads the article.
The Wickaninnish Inn on Vancouver Island was just one of two Canadian locations to crack the list of 100 hotels. The other was Manoir Hovey in Quebec, landing a score of 98.48/100, which put the Eastern Canadian hotel at 23rd on the list.
This isn’t the only time that Travel + Leisure has recently shown love towards the Vancouver Island community either. Tofino cracked the list of 12 Best Small Towns in Canada as well, which was released last month.
