Two women saw a shocking scene this morning after a minivan flipped and crashed into their home.

The collision occurred at around 8:25 a.m.

Police said a vehicle was going south on Tillicum Road when a van going west on Selkirk Avenue attempted to make a right hand turn onto Tillicum Road and collided with the other vehicle. The van lost control, crossed the sidewalk and hit the corner of a house before landing on its side.

The two women who live at the house, Laura and Kathy, said they heard a loud bang while they were getting ready for work and knew something had happened.

“We came running outside and saw a guy climbing out the window of the car and there was a car on its side in our driveway,” Laura said.

The women said the man driving the van appeared to not be hurt and they will assess the damage of their home with their insurance company.

Traffic was reduced to one lane on Tillicum Road while emergency crews and a tow truck driver removed the van. The road reopened shortly after 9 a.m.

Police said a mechanical issue was the cause of the collision.

Tillicum Road was down to one lane while emergency crews responded to the crash.
