Van driver hits person on scooter in crosswalk on Douglas

Crews were called to the intersection of Douglas and Chatham streets Thursday evening for a driver that had hit a person on a scooter.

Around 7 p.m. the van was travelling westbound while the man was crossing the street on Douglas.

The man was struck and pinned underneath, and police, fire and ambulance were called to the scene and were able to get him out.

He was taken away by ambulance and VicPD says his injuries are non-life threatening.

The road was closed for several hours.
