Alleged assault with weapon at Hillside Mall sends man to hospital with serious injuries

An alleged assault in the 1600 block of Hillside Avenue sent one man to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries, says Victoria police.

Officers responded around 2:45 p.m. Saturday and arrived on scene to find the victim injured, they tended to his injuries before he was sent to hospital.

Police said it was a serious assault with a weapon.

B.C. Emergency Health Services says they responded to Hillside Mall and transported the victim to hospital.

The suspect was reported to not be on on the scene when officers arrived but later had turned himself into police.

The man remains in custody and investigators do not believe there is a risk to the public and say the investigation is ongoing.

The victim has been released from hospital.
