Oceanside RCMP is thanking the public for helping to locate a suspected getaway vehicle from a break-and-enter and assault in Qualicum Beach Thursday morning.

Police say the vehicle was found near the Nanaimo tent city Thursday night, with help from the Nanaimo RCMP Street Crimes unit.

Oceanside RCMP officers responded to a report of the break-and-enter in the 400-block of Judges Row in Qualicum Beach at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators said the break-in was interrupted by a neighbour, who was allegedly assaulted by the suspect who then fled on foot and was seen getting into a 2012 White Mitsubishi RVR sport utility vehicle with the Saskatchewan licence plate 336 LAH.

The investigation into the incident continues.
