The annual Stuff the Bus event that was announced this morning has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
BC Transit says the cancellation is to ensure continued alignment with public health orders.
“We understand the importance of donations this time of year and although the event is cancelled, we encourage people to reach out directly to our official partners…on alternate donation options,” said BC Transit in a press release.
Donations from the event were supposed to go to the Mustard Seed Food Bank and the Salvation Army’s Stan Hagen Centre for Families.
BC Transit is still encouraging those who can to donate non-perishable foods, new unwrapped toys, clothing and cash.
The original plan for the event, announced this morning, would have involved dropping off donations to on-site volunteers equipped with PPE and sanitizer, regular cleaning, physical distancing and mandatory masks.
