A suspect, caught on CCTV, who put an uncapped needle on the door of a business in Saanich.

An uncapped needle appears to have been “deliberately placed” on the door of a Saanich business last week, according to the Saanich Police Department.

In a police report issued on Thursday, the Saanich Police Department said officers are investigating the incident, which occurred on Sept. 30 just before 7 p.m.

According to Saanich PD, the incident was captured on a CCTV security camera system from a business in the area of Burnside Road West at Harriet Road.

Police say that staff found the uncapped needle the next morning when arriving at the business for work. Along with the hypodermic needle, police said that staff also found a piece of gauze placed on the door as well.

After reviewing the property’s video surveillance, police say that footage revealed the suspect sticking the needle, along with a piece of gauze, onto some tape, which was on the door due to COVID-19.

Saanich PD is describing the suspect as a Caucasian woman, 30s, short dark brown hair, 5’6” tall, wearing a white hooded sweater, black jacket, black pants and black flip-flops.
