Two Victoria police officers are recovering from non-life threatening injuries after two people were arrested Sunday, May 20, 2018.

Two Victoria police officers suffered non-life threatening injuries while arresting two people at a multi-unit building on Pandora Avenue Sunday.

At around 5 p.m., police were called to the building in the 700-block of Pandora Avenue after they received a report that a man had kicked in the door of someone’s suite before entering another suite.

Officers found the suspect in a woman’s suite on a different floor of the building and started to try to negotiate to get him to leave. The man ran at the officers, who took him to the ground. Police said he continued to fight with the officers while being arrested.

According to police, the woman tried to keep officers from arresting the man. She was also taken into custody. Police said they also found small quantities of heroin and meth.

Both officers were treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Police are recommending charges of obstruction of police officers, uttering threats and drug possession. The woman has been released on a promise to appear and the man was held in custody for a court appearance.
