Two boaters are safe after going into the Cowichan River in Duncan Saturday afternoon.

Fire, RCMP, Ambulance and search and rescue crews scrambled to meet the two at the Allebeny Road bridge after they fell in upstream at the Vimey Road Boat Launch between 4 and 5 p.m.

Duncan fire says they eventually got stood down after hearing the two boaters were able to get out of the water and warm up in a pickup truck.

The RCMP say both are okay.
