Saanich Police says two officers and a 24-year-old male suffered minor injuries in a fight as officers respond to an alleged robbery Wednesday.

Saanich Police says two officers had minor injuries while trying to take robbery suspect into custody Wednesday night.

Saanich Police says a 24-year-old male was approached by a Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) at Thrifty Foods in the Saanich Plaza Mall in the area of Quadra Street and MacKenzie Avenue.

A fight broke out between the suspect and LPO, and a knife was produced.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. and Saanich police officers rushed to the scene.

They encountered the suspect at Quadra Street and Union Road, and the suspect then fought with three of the officers.

Authorities say the suspect and two officers suffered minor injuries, and the man remains in custody tonight.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, but the suspect faces charges of robbery, resisting arrest and breach of conditions.
