Two people have serious injuries and Highway 19 is closed north of Port McNeill after a two-vehicle crash Monday morning.
Port McNeill fire chief Dean Tait says the incident happened just before 8 a.m. and has closed traffic until further notice between the lookout north of town and the 7-Mile landfill.
RCMP from Port McNeill remain on the scene along with a reconstruction team from Campbell River.
Tait said it is too soon in the investigation to determine how the two cars collided.
Port McNeill fire posted on Facebook that the highway is “extremely slippery” and asks drivers to use caution and give extra time to get to your destination.
