Two people trying to get away from Victoria police officers in a stolen vehicle last week were arrested and are facing multiple charges.

Victoria police say officers went to the 700-block of Esquimalt Road Aug. 21 to check on two people who were passed out in a car.

When the two were asked by officers to step out of the vehicle, the driver reversed the car and tried to get away.

When another police car was used to stop the suspect vehicle, the driver headed towards the officer’s car and attempted to ram into it at a high speed.

Police say the vehicle stopped just before hitting the officer and went down a dead end road, but was boxed in by officers and the suspect male was arrested without incident.

A short time later police tracked down a female who had fled the scene.

VicPD says the vehicle and the license plates on the car were reported stolen from the West Shore.

Police are recommending seven charges against the two people.
