The B.C. government is giving commuters a heads up to brace for delays along Sooke Road (Highway 14) this Tuesday as construction crews shift traffic to two newly constructed lanes.

Following the morning rush hour, officials say both directions of traffic between Connie and Glinz Lake roads will be directed to new lanes as crews place delineators and complete line painting.

“Drivers accessing Gillespie Road will be directed to the new Gillespie connector, which passes under the newly constructed bridge,” states a press release. “This routing will be the final configuration for westbound traffic.”

The traffic change marks the final phase of the Connie Road to Glinz Lake Road project — a 2.3-kilometre route to feature four lanes offering improved safety to accommodate a growing population, according to the government.

The upcoming work is expected to wrap up by the end of the day, and drivers are reminded to use extra caution behind the wheel while obeying traffic personnel and signage.

Up-to-date road closure information can be found on DriveBC’s website.
