The 50th annual Vancouver Island Track and Field Championships took place at Centennial Stadium today, featuring the top track and field athletes from across the island.
Amongst the crowd, Wellington High’s Hassy Fashina-Bombaya captured both the senior girls 100 and 200 metre victories while Belmont High’s Eli Nelms-Horton took the men’s senor 100 metre win. Fashina-Bombaya was also named the female outstanding track and field athlete.
Overall, Oak Bay High captured it’s 25th consecutive Island Championship. Winners from today’s event move onto the Provincial Championships, which take place on June 1st to 3rd in Langley.
