The District of Tofino, Tourism Tofino and the Tofino Chamber of Commerce recently issued a joint statement urging residents living in Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health to avoid non-essential travel to the region until at least Nov. 23.

Tofino doesn’t want people from the Lower Mainland health authority regions to visit unless it’s essential.

The District of Tofino, Tourism Tofino and the Tofino Chamber of Commerce recently issued a joint statement urging residents living in Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health to avoid non-essential travel to the region until at least Nov. 23.

“As COVID-19 continues to spread throughout our province, regulations and health guidelines are changing rapidly. We appreciate that this recent announcement has implications for many travellers and businesses,” a statement issued by the District of Tofino reads.

Those from Fraser or Vancouver Coastal health regions that have reservations in Tofino are being asked to rebook.

Tofino joins Ucluelet in urging residents from Fraser Health and Vancouver Coastal Health regions to avoid non-essential travel to the region.

Earlier this month, Dr. Bonnie Henry, the B.C.’s provincial health officer, announced that from Nov. 7 until Nov. 23 at 12 p.m., travel into and out of the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley should be limited to essential travel only.
