Hundreds on Vancouver Island are without power.

BC Hydro says approximately 415 customers northwest of West Coast Road and southeast of Parkinson Road, between Port Renfrew and Jordan River, have been without power since late Sunday morning. The cause has not been determined

Additionally, more than 100 customers in northern Vancouver Island are also without power.

BC Hydro says 75 customers near Quatsino have been without power since 4 a.m. and could be without power overnight as high winds have cancelled water taxi service.

Meanwhile, 27 customers in Winter Harbour have been without power since 8 a.m. due to trees down on wires and that crews are currently on site.

Roughly five other customers in the area of First Main Street in Holberg are also without power due to downed wires. BC Hydro says crews have been assigned but are not yet on site.

A small number of customers in Nanaimo and Campbell River are also without power, mostly due to downed wires, according to BC Hydro.

Vancouver Island experienced high winds yesterday evening and overnight.

Environment Canada says winds in Port Hardy gusted as high as 70 km/h last night while Sartine Island near Cape Scott had winds gusts of up to 150 km/h.
