A Nanaimo-based company has signed a deal to be the medical cannabis supplier to Shoppers Drug Mart.
Licensed marijuana producer Tilray Canada Ltd. will provide Tilray branded medical cannabis products to the retailer.
The agreement is subject to Health Canada’s approval of Shoppers Drug Mart’s application for distribution of medicinal marijuana.
Tilray expects products to be sold online because of restrictions for selling pot for medical purposes in retail pharmacies.
Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of Shoppers Drug Mart, applied for a license in October 2016.
Tilray says its products are sold at pharmacies in seven other countries.
