Three people injured in charter fishing boat crash near Kyuquot: RCMP

Port McNeill is investigating after a charter fishing boat crashed near Kyuquot resulting in three people being injured.

The crash, which involved a vessel that was registered to a charter fishing resort, happened on July 13.

In a release, RCMP say locals responded to the scene and brought three people to a medical facility to treat minor injuries. The people on board were resort personnel and one of their friends.

“The Port McNeill RCMP would like to thank the local residents for the quick and timely response to this incident,” Cpl. Spencer Mylymok said in a release. “Their efforts contributed to a safe outcome to what could have been a tragic event.”

RCMP West Coast Marine Services will assist the investigation and it is expected that Transport Canada and WorkSafeBC will be involved as well.
