Two women, a man and a dog are safe after being rescued by search and rescue crews from Strathcona Provincial Park Saturday.

On Friday SAR responded after the group from Victoria contacted emergency officials around 4 p.m. after a woman and dog became injured.

Comox Valley Ground SAR found them Friday night but due to the adverse weather and darkness had to wait until Saturday to take them out by helicopter.

Two SAR volunteers tented with them overnight, the search was originally launched at the peak of the storm hitting the south coast.

The group was planning on winter camping for three days and started their hike at 9 a.m.

Comox Valley Ground SAR was first sent out by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, who had limited information that said three people and a dog were in some kind of trouble.
